3 Pairings for Our 3 Favorite Seafood Dishes

seafoodYou can’t own a restaurant like ours without having a love of seafood and although we get rave reviews for all our menu items, we decided to poll our staff to find out which dishes make their mouths water and what beverages they like to drink with their favorite seafood. The crabs notwithstanding, here are the top three dishes our staff just can’t get enough of!

The Broiled Combination is a staff favorite because it features four tasty seafood dishes in one entrée! The dish includes fresh jumbo shrimp, sea scallops, oysters, and the catch of the day or your choice of snapper or grouper. It is also one of the healthiest items on our menu. The challenge in pairing the right beverage with a dish like this is finding something that will bring all those distinct flavors together. Our choice for wine-lovers is Jean-Luc Colombo’s Cape Bleue Rose. Hints of roses, strawberries, lime, and watermelon with a savory finish plays up the earthy-copper flavors of the oysters without overpowering the delicate taste of the scallops, and briny essence of the shrimp. Beer drinkers should consider Stella Artois for a clean, crisp finish between bites.

We have so many delicious entrees, it was hard to narrow it down to three options, but from our pasta selection we can’t get enough of the Fettuccine Alfredo with Seafood. This dish combines half of a Florida Lobster tail, jumbo shrimp, clams, sea scallops, and the fish of the day tossed in our creamy Alfredo sauce. To enhance the many flavors of seafood without trampling on the cheesy taste of the sauce we suggest Antica Chardonnay. While the wine is made in Napa Valley California, it is European in style with a limited contribution from the oak barrels it’s aged in. The hints of pineapple and butterscotch are perfectly suited to making the seafood stand out. If you’re looking for the right beer to enjoy, try Sam Adams’ Boston Larger. The evenly balanced flavor brings out the seafood without getting in the way of the sauce.

seafoodAnother deliciously healthy seafood dish we adore is the Black Grouper served Caribbean Style. This tantalizing dish is springtime on your palate with sautéed fresh diced pineapples, papaya, mango, red bell peppers and cilantro, all over a bed of baby spinach dressed with extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon, finished with a sprinkle of roasted sliced almonds. The best wine to round out this meal is Trefethen Estate’s Riesling. This dry white wine tastes of tropical fruits and flowers with ruby red grapefruit and peaches that finish cleanly on the palate and echo the tropical fruits in the dish. When it comes to beer, Blue Moon is a must! The subtle orangey-citrus notes are just right what you want to compliment the mix of fish and fruit.
